MENACE DE GENERAL ,THE SHINING HIP HOP GEM OF AFRICA

Friday, 15 January 2021 by SLAAM

Menace De General is in general a rap icon and thus a positive musical threat to all contemporary hip hop rappers in the creative industry of Sierra Leone and Africa at large. A graduated product from Norfolk State University, Menace De General whose biological name is Dennis Bundu is a native-born Sierra Leonean who carved for himself a celebrated statue of an iconic status at the early stage of his musical career through a timeless hit single titled, ‘ Drink Tay You Alaki’ that was themed at releasing people from the stress of everyday’s stressful hustle.

A superb stylistic lyricist who mostly uses the latest slangs in town, especially in Sierra Leone’s popular ‘ Krio ‘ dialect, to write his sweet rhyming meaningful lyrics, this United States based Sierra Leonean swiftly gained prominence and dominance in the midst of other iconic rappers who eventually considered him as a big threat and a strong force to reckon with in respect of creativity and marketability in the hip hop realm.

So in general Menace De General is a real hip hop menace. Apart from being featured into many songs, Menace De General has released tons of hit singles plus mix tapes. Most unique of his character is the fact he is a passionate hater of violence and a proud lover and promoter of education as he believes in education as the sure way to human and national development. So his hit song, ‘ Book en Pen’ is themed at this message.

However, Menace only allows musical battles via the microphone as he is always seen dwarfing his opponents through his gigantic creativity.
Always rising and never falling, this musical gem of timeless shiny lustre, has to his credit a latest project that will feature galaxies of Africa”s shiny stars in a virtual musical concert titled, AFRICA RISE 2021, slated for Saturday 16th January, 2021.

This will be one of Africa’s biggest event this year. Nonetheless, you can download the video below and see the master himself, Menace De General, talking about the initiative surrounding this historic ‘ Africa Rise 2021 ‘ project.

You’ll be glad you did.

According to Jay, he was inspired by God to write this song and had the leading which he discussed with a friend of his. A lot of experiences from living in Sierra Leone helped with the concept of the song. Sierra Leone has been through a lot as a nation, considering war, Ebola, political instability etc.
Jay said when he looked back at all of this and even considering the current corona virus situation, he felt the urge to do a song that directs the attention of people back to God. He know that with a unified voice in prayer it would go a long way in bringing about the needed change we want to see. The song is a prayer in itself and is also a call on all Sierra Leoneans to pray on behalf of the nation.
